Atlanta: The Olympic Music City of Dreams

Abstract

From the early part of the twentieth century through the late 1990s, the city of Atlanta, Georgia has consistently grown to become an entertainment industry hub. The author provides a survey of the city’s entertainment industry history including television, film and music production. Author provides summary of the region’s accomplishments in rhythm and blues music production with special emphasis on LaFace Records and its co-founders, Antonio “LA” Reid and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. A wide range of other artists and music industry executives and companies are cited. Concludes with a summary of the economic impact of the entertainment industry in the region.
