POSITION Hilton-Baldridge Eminent Scholar in Music Industry Studies, to be appointed at the rank of Professor, beginning August 2020.

SALARY Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a 10-month position.

DESCRIPTION The ideal candidate will have an innovative vision and ability to enrich the programs in the School of Music Industry and Loyola University, more broadly. The individual will teach three undergraduate music industry courses each semester based upon the needs of the School and areas of personal expertise, as well as maintain a regular and consistent presence on campus. The successful candidate will also be expected to be a leader in collaboration with other faculty to develop new initiatives within and beyond the School of Music Industry, serve as an academic advisor and on committees, and assist in recruitment activities. Additionally, they will be expected to remain professionally active and engaged within the national or international music industry and continue to develop creative/scholarly work and industry relations.

QUALIFICATIONS Required Qualifications:

·       Significant professional experience in the national or international music industry

·       Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: entrepreneurship, label services, artist management, agency management, music industry business affairs, music technology and production, or performance of popular, commercial, and urban music styles

·       Evidence of significant and current leadership and creative activities within the national or internationalmusic industry

·       Evidence of Commitment to teaching

·       Ability to maintain a regular and consistent presence on campus

Desirable Qualifications:

·       Doctorate or other advanced degree

·       Experience in program development, especially related to music industry topics

·       Experience collaborating with or teaching in a university environment

·       Demonstrated success in recruitment

THE SCHOOLThe School of Music Industry offers four undergraduate majors with more than 300 students. The School prepares aspiring musicians, producers, performers and executives for success in the entertainment industry, with degrees in Music Industry, Popular and Commercial Music, and Urban and Electronic Music Production.
