Assistant/Associate Professor or Lecturer in Journalism/Sports Media
The Eugene S. Pulliam School of Journalism and Creative Media in the College of Communication at Butler University invites applications for an assistant/associate professor or lecturer in Journalism/Sports Media with an expected start date of August 2022. This faculty member will primarily teach Media Law and will also be able to teach in one or more of the following areas: media ethics, multimedia journalism, or media production. This faculty member will help shape new directions for our programs.
We seek candidates whose research, teaching and/or service have prepared them to contribute to engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse students, faculty, and staff. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in an educational and work environment and be willing to contribute to these efforts in the SJCM and on campus. We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the infusion of diversity across the Journalism curriculum.
Minimum qualifications for the Lecturer position include a master’s degree and significant professional experience in Journalism/Sports Media. Minimum qualifications for the assistant/associate professor position include a Ph.D. or terminal degree in one of these fields or a related field.

The university enrolls approximately 5,000 students across its six colleges, including the College of Communication. The College enrolls approximately 550 students across its 9 majors and online graduate program in Strategic Communication. Lecturers in the College have a typical teaching load of 4 courses per semester with an expectation for creative/professional activities. Tenure- track faculty teach 3 courses per semester with an expectation of an active research agenda that leads to publication.
