Assistant/Associate Professor of Collaborative Piano (tenure track)

Department:    Music
Effective Date of Appointment: August 2012 (Subject to Budgetary Approval)
Salary: Commensurate with background and qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Doctoral Degree in Piano/Collaborative Piano
  • Extensive professional collaborative experience in vocal, instrumental and chamber repertoire on a national/international level
  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of university-level teaching experience in collaborative piano
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working with a diverse student and faculty population
  • CSUN is a Learning Centered University. The successful candidate will be expected to join faculty and staff in a commitment to active learning, to the assessment of learning outcomes, and to multiple pathways that enable students to graduate.
  • At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.
  • Evidence of degree(s) required at time of hire

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and develop Masters of Music in Collaborative Piano Program (currently in the final stages of University approval)
  • Teach Collaborative Piano Practicum (weekly masterclass)
  • Coach Chamber Music
  • Teach Applied Lessons in collaborative piano
  • Teach other courses as needed in the Music Department and Keyboard area, dependent on qualifications
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with local and national piano faculties as well as teacher associations
  • Provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods
  • Demonstrate consistent year-to-year development of professional activity and research

received by February 29, 2012.  Position will remain open until filled.
