Millikin’s School of Music, with over 300 music majors (100+ in music
industry studies) invites qualified individuals to apply for a position
in Music Business/Music Industry. The curriculum includes a music
core coupled with class work in the Tabor School of Business and
courses that uniquely blend the two fields. Millitrax Studio, a
state-of-the-art recording facility and video-editing suite is key to
the commercial music degree in particular, and the music industry
program in general. Master’s degree preferred, industry
experience considered.
Qualifications include: teaching at the collegiate level, music
industry experience.
Responsibilities include teaching Introduction to the Music Industry;
Seminar: Topics in Music Business; Legal Issues in Music; internship
supervision; possible management of First Step Records, a student-run
record label and music publishing entity. Other teaching duties,
depending on the candidate’s secondary area, could include courses in
recording technology, computer applications in music (including Pro
Tools), or other traditional areas in music such as applied music,
jazz, theory. Participation in recruitment, advising, and faculty
governance is expected.
Start date: August 2008.
