The Music and Entertainment Industry Studies Department (MEIS) in the College of Arts & Media (CAM) at the University of Colorado Denver (UCD) seeks an Assistant Professor in the Music Business (9-month, Tenure Track). The position will begin August 2019. The successful candidate will have a teaching load of five courses per academic year (3/2 or 2/3), with Research/Creative work and Service components. This position has a 40/40/20 split between teaching, research and service.
With purpose in its role as a creative catalyst in a public urban research university, The College of Arts & Media (CAM) seeks faculty in the Departments of Music and Entertainment Studies, Film & Television and Visual Arts--who will be a diverse group--representing varied gender, racial, ethnic, sexual, and class identities.

In addition to having notable and relevant specialization(s) in research and creative work, candidates will have professional affinities and the motivation to also teach, lead, model and conduct research and creative work across the three departments in CAM (music industries, film & tv and visual arts). Experience and/or aptitude in professional practice* is prime criteria for consideration, and an awareness/involvement to assure CAM graduates are future-ready to enter the creative industries. The expectations for all faculty hires will be civic engagement (to advance opportunities for students and attainment for faculty research and creative work), participation in student recruitment, and to be active and dynamic citizens of a culture that engages broadly with the community.

The Music and Entertainment Industry Studies Department in the College of Arts & Media at the University of Colorado Denver is ranked as one of the top music business programs in the country by Billboard. The Department of Music and Entertainment Industry Studies (MEIS) lives up to its name with state-of-the-art recording studios, private teaching studios and cutting-edge technology. This department is designed to prepare students for a variety of alternative careers in the arts and entertainment industries through its intense focus on commercial music styles.
MEIS students have access to:
- Five state-of-the-art recording studios
- 16-station piano lab, with the most up to date applications
- 12 student practice suites
- King Academic & Performing Arts Center – 500-seat concert hall, 200-seat recital hall and multiple production studios
MEIS offers a Bachelor of Science in Music with four emphasis areas:
Recording Arts, Music Business, Performance and Singer/Songwriting. It also offers M.S. degrees in Music in two areas: Recording Arts and the rapidly growing field of Audio Forensics. The College of Arts & Media also offers undergraduate degrees in Film and Television, Arts Practices, Illustration, Digital Design and 3D & Digital Animation.

- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in one or more of the following music industry sectors: Artist management, concert promotion, music marketing, record company operations and the digital music industry.
- Active research agenda with published peer review journals or books.
- Curriculum and course development experience (including online courses).
