Albright College, a dynamic liberal arts college in Reading, PA, invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of Music with a focus on Applied Commercial Music and Commercial Arranging beginning August 2019. A DMA or Ph.D. in Music is required prior to appointment along with evidence of quality teaching at the undergraduate level and successful experience in Commercial Ensemble activities (conducting, coaching, arranging, recruiting, etc.). The position carries a teaching load of six courses per year. Responsibilities include: the creation and ongoing directorship of a Commercial Music Ensemble at Albright as well teaching such courses as: Commercial Music Theory; Commercial Arranging; Introduction to Music Business; History of Popular Music; and, History of Jazz. The position also carries an expectation of departmental and college committee service, academic advising/mentoring, the continued pursuit of professional scholarship, and the creative participation in our annual performing arts season.
