Daniel Hill - President, Cal IV
Entertainment
President of Cal IV
Entertainment, Daniel Hill is a 21-year veteran of music publishing in
Nashville. Since joining the independent music publisher in 2000,
the company has had numerous number one and top ten hits, including
Faith Hill’s “Breathe,” George Strait’s “She’ll Leave You With A
Smile,” Tim McGraw’s “Watch The Wind Blow By,” Lee Ann Womack’s “I May
Hate Myself In The Morning,” and the recent four-week number one “If
You’re Going Through Hell” by Rodney Atkins. Prior to Cal IV,
Hill served at PolyGram Music Publishing for ten years, working with
such legendary songwriters as Bob McDill, Dickey Lee, Rory Bourke, and
Kostas. He was VP/Acting GM at the time of the PolyGram merger
with MCA/Universal Music, and subsequently VP of Universal Music.
As a song plugger, Hill has placed songs with Dixie Chicks, Alan
Jackson, George Strait, Martina McBride, Wynonna, Vince Gill, Alison
Krauss, Trisha Yearwood, Dwight Yoakam, Joe Cocker, and many
others. Hill was instrumental in the artist development and
production of Trent Tomlinson’s recent Lyric Street Records debut
“Country Is My Rock.” A native of East Tennessee, Hill received
his BA in Music Performance and an MBA in Marketing from The University
of Tennessee/Knoxville, while performing and recording in that
region. Hill is an alumnus of the Leadership Music Class of 2000,
a board member of the Nashville Better Business Bureau, and member of
the ACM, CMA, and NARAS.
Dennis
Lord - Executive Vice
President, SESAC
Dennis Lord is the Executive Vice President of SESAC. He has been with
SESAC for 9 years. Lord’s responsibilities include SESAC’s corporate
operations, business affairs and working with SESAC’s Writer/Publisher
Relations staff, in all musical genres, as well as film and television
composers, throughout the United States.
Lord is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the
Academy of Country Music, Copyright Society of the South and is an
alternate member of the National Recording Preservation Board and a
graduate of Leadership Music. In addition, he is also a founding
council member and past President of the Americana Music Association, a
trade organization dedicated to the promotion of roots music and the
Americana genre.
Prior to joining SESAC, Lord practiced law with Jack, Lyon
& Jones in Nashville and helped guide the career of guitarist Sonny
Landreth. Lord is also a songwriter with recordings by artists such as
T.G. Shepperd.
Randy Wachtler - President,
615 Music

Randy was born and raised in Mpls, MN
where he started playing in local bands, then moved to Tampa, FL where
he continued to tour with regional bands. Randy studied at the
University of South Florida, and played drums in several touring groups
throughout the Southeast for 4 years In 1980 Randy moved to Nashville
where he continued his studies in recording industry mgmt. at MTSU.
Upon graduation in 1984 Randy founded 615 Music
Productions. 615 Music is a full service commercial music
production/Sound Design company and world leader in the creation of
music for advertisers, television networks, TV and Radio stations,
interactive, and cable worldwide. In ’97, a new division was
formed, “The 615 Music Library”, a 300 CD collection across 7 libraries
available for license for TV/film, Radio, corporate and A/V
productions. The library is currently distributed in over 30
countries. Randy has been a featured speaker at the PROMAX
Conference and NARAS “Grammy in the Schools” events. Randy and
wife Davonna have two sons, Harrison, and Haden. They enjoy
spending time together and rooting for their favorite NFL team, The TN
Titans.
James Elliot - Assistant
Professor of Music Business, Belmont University
Elliott joined Belmont in 1990
teaching courses in music publishing and public relations. He also
serves as Faculty in Residence at Belmont West, the Los Angeles based
semester Belmont launched in 1999. Also a songwriter and music
publisher with more than one hundred recorded songs to his
credit, he has won awards from ASCAP, NSAI, American Songwriter
Magazine, and the Gospel Music Association. The artists who have
recorded his songs include Steven Curtis Chapman, Shenandoah, Mark
Schultz, Newsong, and The Oak Ridge Boys. In addition, Elliott
has written articles for Popular Music and Society, contributed entries
to two music encyclopedias and is the co-author, with Scott Roley of
God's Neighborhood A Hopeful Journey in Racial Reconciliation
& Community Renewal.
Rey Sanchez - Associate professor Music and Entertainment
Industries, University of Miami
Sanchez is an industry
veteran with extensive experience in many facets of the music industry,
including music publishing (EMI Music Publishing, FJH Music, Warner
Brothers Music), record production (Sony, BGM, Fonovisa, Benson) and is
the musical director for latin pop star, Chayanne. He is a voting
member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
