Position Purpose: This position is responsible for teaching in the fields of law, music business, and entertainment business, as well as participating in academic advising, student mentoring, research and scholarly activity, and college and university service.

Job Functions:
- Teach 24 credit hours per year.
- Advise and mentor students in research and other class-related projects.
- Engage in activities to support the mission and vision of Belmont University and the Department.
- Engage in research and scholarly activity, professional development, college, university, and community service.
- Participate in departmental and university committee work.

Knowledge of principles, methods and current developments in the field of law, music business, and entertainment business. Comprehensive knowledge of the music business with experience in music publishing, artist management, international music business, and/or intellectual properties. Knowledge and experience in other aspects of the entertainment industry will be considered. Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.

Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate excellence in teaching. Demonstrated ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.

Skilled in the use of computers, Internet resources MS Office software.

Ability to learn relevant sections of Banner Web, Belmont University’s online integrated database systems for student grading.

Ability to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.

Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to work collaboratively in course design and to teach interdisciplinary and topical courses.

Experience: Commitment to teaching excellence required. Higher education teaching experience preferred.

Education: Ph.D. or J.D. required (J.D. preferred)

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Occasionally requires ability to move independently, lift and carry materials and books, pull and push moderate loads, reach low. Constantly requires sitting, repetitious finger and wrist movement, speaking clearly, hearing conversations, hearing (with acuity), seeing near and far with depth perception and color vision.
