MEISA NEWS - BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS
WITH MEISA 2008
by Bosa Mora, MEISA National
President
MEISA
students are working to build relationships in the music
industry to strengthen their network and communication. Here
are some updates from a few of our chapters.
Here
are some updates from a few of our chapters:
Albright College
Albright College's MEISA chapter was chosen
to host this year’s
MEISA Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference on September
20, 2008.
The conference
had seven panels that covered different fields of the music
industry, including music marketing, entertainment law, touring,
artist management, and publishing. Twenty-seven panelists
were present to represent the different fields and we had
eight sponsors. It was an all day event that ended with benefit:
MUSIC, a concert that benefited Vh1’s Save the Music
Foundation.
Desales University
Students at Desales just started a
new MEISA chapter in Center Valley Pennsylvania in 2008.
They have long been interested
in MEISA and have had an overwhelming response of people
who want to join. Now, they are officially joined MEISA and
have also established a faculty advisor. They had their first
event on February 20th with The Tonight Life and Hollywood
Ave as well as local bands that performed.
National Board
The Executive Board is working to
get the word out about the conference and follow up on
the goals set out at the
beginning of the school year. We have accomplished the
first successful summer meeting as well as organizing the
newsletter and technology required to distribute it. We have
also communicated and organized chapters in registration
for meisa and the conference. We are currently reviewing
applicants for our contests as well as preparing for the
Conference coming up soon.

a Music Business student at Berklee College of Music,
