BELMONT UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES SUMMER
MUSIC BUSINESS INSTITUTE
In May 2008, the Curb College will launch
its Summer Institute, giving students who are currently in
good standing at an accredited four-year university and have
earned 30+ credit hours an opportunity to take music business
courses at a premiere institution from expert faculty, complete
an exciting internship at one of hundreds of partner corporations,
and enjoy the rich cultural opportunities the Nashville community
has to offer.
Over the course of two summers, Summer Institute participants
will earn 20 credit hours equivalent to Belmont's Music Business
minor and apply their knowledge in a rewarding industry internship.
During the first summer, students will enroll in two sessions
to
maximize their educational experience in Nashville, taking
Survey of Music Business, Survey of Recording Technology,
The Nashville Experience, History of the Recording Business,
Intellectual Properties, and Music Business Internship Lab.
The second
summer students will take Music Publishing and intern for
ten weeks on Music Row or
in the greater Nashville area.
Music Row is home to hundreds of companies representing virtually
every facet of the music industry. Major and independent record
labels, publishing houses, recording studios, production houses,
radio networks and more congregate on Music Row, the heart
of Nashville’s entertainment industry. Curb College
Summer Institute participants benefit from Belmont’s
close proximity to this incredible resource, choosing from
an impressive array of internship opportunities during their
second summer in Nashville that will provide opportunities
to network with industry professionals and refine their classroom
knowledge in a real world setting.
