The 2010 International MEIEA Conference will be hosted by the University of Miami and held in Coral Gables, Florida, on March 26th and 27th, 2010.  Activities on Friday, March 26th, will take place at the Westin Colonnade in downtown Coral Gables.  Activities on Saturday, March 27th, will take place on the Coral Gables campus of the University of Miami, in a number of different Frost School of Music venues and classrooms.

The official conference hotel is the Westin Colonnade as that is where all of the daytime events on Friday take place.  However all of its rooms are now sold out.

 

 

We have now also sold out our second hotel, the Courtyard Marriott.

There are other hotels in the area that you may want to consider.  We are unable to arrange a group rate with them at this late stage of the game.  You should book your room right away as most hotels in the area are sold out.

If you are staying at the Courtyard Marriott:

The Courtyard Marriott offers complimentary shuttle service to and from Miami International Airport.  To use this service, upon arrival at MIA, call the hotel at 305-443-2301 for directions about where to find the shuttle.  If you do not want to wait for the complimentary shuttle, you can follow the directions listed above for the Westin regarding taxis and the Super Shuttle.

 

If you are staying at the Wyndham:

The Wyndham offers complimentary shuttle service to and from Miami International Aiport.  To use this service, call the hotel for information at 305-871-3800.

The MEISA Showcase on Friday is located at UVA, 2626 Ponce de Leon Blvd, Coral Gables, FL 33134, 305-476-8111.  There is metered parking on the street and it is located within walking distance of the garage next to the Westin.  The Courtyard Marriott will be offering complimentary shuttles to and from UVA, although it is only a 15 minute walk.

 

The MEIEA Faculty Jam on Friday will be located at Books & Books, 265 Aragon Ave.  There is metered parking on the street and it is located within walking distance of both the garage next to the Westin, and of the Courtyard Marriott.

 

Going out on Saturday Night:
Should you be interested in visiting South Beach or Coconut Grove on Saturday night, March 27th, buses will be available, for an additional charge of $15 roundtrip.  Tickets may be purchased in advance at the same time as you arrange your conference registration.

 

There will also be an event co-hosted by the student-run 'Cane Records and Cat 5 Music Publishing for ages 18+ located at Books & Books.
